Developmental milestones are estimated ages for which mental and physical progression occur. Pediatricians and parents may informally assess a child’s development of communication, fine motor and gross motor skills, by referring to the developmental milestones.
At your first visit, the formal evaluation will indicate whether or not there is a need for therapy. A therapeutic plan of care will usually be a customized number of weekly visits that address communicative, cognitive, feeding, swallowing, fine motor, gross motor, balance, gait, and/or sensory goals to fit your child’s needs.. The therapy sessions are provided in the patient’s home, daycare, private school, or Head Start center.
